Baby Jamey - Day 3

We just made a trip to the hospital and the new family is doing well. I know everyone is dying to see pictures...so let's get to it!

Jamey taking a much needed nap...
Katie was checking Jamey out, but was a little disappointed that he didn't want to play with her (yet)!

And, finally, a little video of Jamey...

Welcome to the club, Melissa & Glenn!

I'm proud to announce that Melissa, my long time HS friend, is a mommy! James Morgan was born last night via c-section at 9:16pm.

9 pounds, 1 ounce and 22 1/4 inches

Both parents are so happy and Jamey is doing great. I wish them the best in their new "adventure" as parents. It is the craziest, busiest, most rewarding job on Earth! You can never really understand, until you have your first. Welcome to the club guys!

We are your friends...the backyardigans

Katie is teething or not feeling well because she's grumpy and refusing bottles and food. She's probably had about half her normal food today and we're trying everything to get her to eat. Lately, she calms down and drinks her bottle if I sing to her...so during dinnertime, we both stood there singing the Backyardigans theme song because it was the only way to get her to take the bottle. She only drank 3 ounces total, but we probably went through the song about 10 times. We seriously think we're losing it...mentally and physically.

Old Katie...come back to us!

Aquatots Class #1

Katie had her first Aquatots class recently and it was fun (for me at least!)
Grandma and Grandpa came along, since Daddy was sick. Katie loves the bath tub and her baby pool, but I think she was a little hesitant about such a big pool. We learned how to get into the pool with a baby and also did exercises to teach them swimming on their belly and backs. As you can see, Katie did not enjoy the back float/swim. I don't think she liked her head in the water...or maybe she was scared because she couldn't see me.

At least she was stylish in her pink and purple bathing suit! The other babies are all around her age and an equal mix of boys and girls, so it is fun to see them all in the water. In between each "exercise", we get back in a circle and sing songs. Katie really liked that! On the left is a picture of her fellow Aquatots (we're on the left hand side of the circle).
They also have a ramp on the side of the pool, so they kids can "walk" out. That was one of Katie's favorite parts, mainly because she could see Grandma taking pictures at the top of the ramp. We know she's a poser! We missed this weekend's class because of a trip to NJ, but we'll be back there next weekend and I think Daddy is going in! Woohoo!

9 month milestones

Katie had her 9 month appointment this week and everything was great! She's meeting all her milestones, which include: waving, clapping, crawling, standing, saying Mamama and Dadada and using the pincer grasp.

Below are her latest stats:
Weight: 19 pounds, 3.5 ounces - 60-65th percentile
Length: 29.5 inches - 95th percentile
Head: 17 3/4 inches - 70th percentile

Thankfully she did not need any shots and only had a heel prick to test her hemoglobin levels, which were good. They mainly told us to keep doing what we're doing (or not doing) and start to introduce table foods. Let the fun begin!

Method Baby - Squeaky Green Baby Wash

Last week, I picked up a bottle of Method Baby wash at Target ($6.99) and gave it a go.

Pros:
  • nice, mild scent (sweet, slight coconut, baby smell)
  • main ingredients consist of rice milk, mallow and olive oil (soft and 99% natural ingredients)
  • tear free and hypoallergenic
  • great shape (pump bottle for easy access and the top comes off to use as a rinse cup)
Cons:
  • pricey, but at least it should last for awhile
  • doesn't lather (maybe lather does not occur in nature?)
