First vacation

We're back from Katie's first vacation and are ready for another vacation already! Katie had a great time hanging out with her grandparents, Uncle Mikey and the Sulimas (Aunt Jean & Uncle Jim). She had her first Betty's seafood experience, first trip to the beach, and did lots of shopping and hanging out at the dock.

"Mmmm...I love Betty's seafood Mommy! Uncle Mikey isn't so bad either!"

She seemed to like the beach and squishing her feet in the sand. She looked adorable in her beach gear, sun hat and sunglasses (even though they were only on for 2 seconds).
All in all, vacation was lovely...until the last night. Some lady was not paying attentionand SMASH! ...she ran right into the back of my car. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. Thank goodness for car seats!
We are already thinking about where we will go next...and when! Katie was a super traveler and slept most of the 7 hour ride. It was great!

Tooth time

I first noticed it a couple days ago and now that everyone has stuck their finger in her mouth, it is confirmed...her bottom, front tooth is on its way! She hasn't been particularly fussy or drooly, so I'm hoping it doesn't bother her. Maybe this will make her eat more!

She also took her first trip to the farm, this weekend. It was baby animal day, so she saw a baby calf, chicks, goats, lambs and piglets. She also saw lots of other human babies...which she found very interesting. I'm loving her sun hats...pictures below!

Superrrr sitterrrr

Sitting pretty

Every day Katie gets a little stronger and can sit up for longer amounts of time. It is amazing to see a baby learn new things. Just 6 months ago, she could barely move and now she rolls, sits, and eats (well sorta).

Happy belated Easter

I am happy to announce that our household illnesses are over (knock on wood). We are all feeling much better and were able to have a nice Easter, even though my voice was gone. Katie enjoyed her first Easter basket(s). She received some teething biscuits, a book, a "chick" rattle, a new shirt, money and a new pair of shoes. Of course, the best part of the baskets were the Easter grass and other filler, but what do you expect?
Even though it was chilly, we put her in a pink Ralph Lauren dress. It was adorable!

On Easter, Katie was officially 6 months old. We celebrated by torturing her with a "springtime" headband. It wasn't too bad though, I think she enjoyed it...or she is just a ham and loves having her picture taken. Here is the little beauty queen...

Stats from 6 month checkup:
Weight = 16 pounds, 3 oz. (50th percentile)
Length = 27 inches (90th percentile)

What goes around, comes around

I have not forgotten about my blog, but we've been dealing with this virus for weeks now. Katie came home sick from daycare and, within days, Andrew was sick. Luckily, I felt fine and was trying my best to take care of both of them. Well, wouldn't you know it...I picked Katie up from daycare on Tuesday and was sweating and feeling dizzy in the car. I was hoping it was just a hot flash (HAH), but no such luck. I'm assuming we all had/have the flu and I'm trying to get over it. I've been in bed for a couple days and feel so weak, I can't even lift Katie. So much for all of us getting the flu shot, right? Apparently the flu shot did not protect against the strain that everyone is getting this year...go figure. Hopefully my next post will be full of healthy, happy news.

Sick babies are not fun

Katie is going through her first (of many, I'm sure) sickness. I'm pretty sure she caught it at daycare since the other baby went home sick last week. She's got a hacking cough, lots of messy diapers and the worst part, she won't drink. This has been going on for about 5 days now and so I had hopes that things were getting better...until this morning.

Hubby was feeding her and I heard "uhoh uhoh, I need help". So I ran upstairs and it looked like she has spit up most of her bottle. I thought it was just spit up, so we cleaned them BOTH up and I waiting about an hour before feeding her again. I gave her ONE ounce and then she sat up and threw up down the front of herself, all over my jeans, shirt and couch. I felt so bad! I don't even know what she has in her to throw up, since she isn't eating much.

Luckily, she is still in good spirits...laughing and smiling. I hate seeing her throw up all over and then smile at me. So far, we've tried, baths, sitting in the bathroom with steam, humidifiers, and giving her warm bottles. I just hope this virus goes away soon! :(
